Switchboard Upgrades
If you own a home that was built prior to 1970, we recommend getting your switchboard checked. Voltworks can help with switchboard upgrades and new switchboard installations.
If you live in a house that was built prior to 1970, there is a chance your switchboard is not up to ASNZ regulations. For your own safety and peace of mind, it’s important to have this checked if you have recently purchased or been having issues with electrical faults.
Many older switchboards do not have RCD protection – this is a device that cuts your electricity when a dangerous situation is detected. RCDs lower your chances of injury and are included in all modern switchboards – the newer your switchboard, the safer and more energy efficient your home will be.
Let our experienced team make sure you’re in safe hands.
There are a number of risks with an old switchboard as they are unable to handle the load that modern electrical appliances (and the sheer volume of them) places on it. When too many appliances are operating, particularly when the wiring of the home is older and not up to standard, it risks a serious shock.
You also run the risk of experiencing an electrical fire when your switchboard is out of date, due to the lack of modern safety measures that are incorporated into the newer upgrades.
If you have any concerns or are not sure about the age of your switchboard, get in touch and we can run through a quick checklist with you to help you identify whether it needs further investigation.
Voltworks provides inspections, safety switch installations and upgrades. We can also completely rewire if necessary. We can provide free quotes and can provide thorough checks of wiring and switchboards to determine risk. You could say we are super switched on when it comes to switchboards!
