Electric Vehicle Charging Points
VoltWorks are certified installers of Electric Vehicle (EV) charging points and offer Auckland wide installation
If you have recently made the investment in an electric vehicle, you will need to ensure you have the correct EV charging points for your vehicle.
Charging your electric vehicle at home during the off-peak hours is the easiest, cheapest and cleanest option. Ideally you will have a garage or off-street parking with access to a 3-pin power socket — or a dedicated charging unit. You also need to consider your EV’s specific charging requirements and how fast you will need it to charge in between use. You do not want to run out of charge halfway home in peak hour traffic in Auckland.
Things to consider, when charging your electric vehicle
There are two technologies available for charging electric vehicles. AC (alternating current) and DC (direct current) charging. In a domestic setting, you will use AC. The actual time taken to charge a vehicle battery will depend on number of things (see our points below) and also needs to be taken into consideration when installing an EV charging point.
- Your electric vehicle’s battery capacity
- Your battery’s current state-of-charge
- The capacity of the charging supply point
- Your EV power rating of the AC/DC converter (for AC charging)
We can help you identify and install an electric charging point that is right for your EV and its specific requirements. We will tailor the type of electrical outlet you require based on your specific home and vehicle you have purchased. We also offer custom wiring and connection for electric vehicle charging points – from a standard 10AMP to Tesla Wall Charger.
